Hawke’s Champagne



A traditional variety developed by Edward Hawke in the 1850’s it has a sweet flavour and good colour, ideal for crumbles, jams and other dishes. This early to mid-season variety is reliable as an outdoor rhubarb as well as for forcing.

Brandy Carr Nurseries are pleased to be able to offer for Autumn/ Winter 2018, the following variety of Rhubarb, " Fenton's Special " This variety was bred by Mr William Fenton of Tingley in West Yorkshire in the 1940's, it is unique to Wakefield's Famous and Historic Rhubarb Triangle. This is a mid season variety which is a lovely colour out in the field for fresh market use. It also produces a deep red heavy crop when used for forced Winter Production in The Forcing Sheds, a very reliable variety all round .
