Glaskin’s Perpetual



Developed in the Brighton area in the 1920’s this mid to late season variety is one of the few which can be harvested the first year after planting. It is reputed to have the lowest level of oxalic acid of all rhubarb varieties. It has soft juicy sweet stems making it ideal for jams and wine.

Brandy Carr Nurseries are pleased to be able to offer for Autumn/ Winter 2018, the following variety of Rhubarb, " Fenton's Special " This variety was bred by Mr William Fenton of Tingley in West Yorkshire in the 1940's, it is unique to Wakefield's Famous and Historic Rhubarb Triangle. This is a mid season variety which is a lovely colour out in the field for fresh market use. It also produces a deep red heavy crop when used for forced Winter Production in The Forcing Sheds, a very reliable variety all round .
